Vintage antique guitar Eduard Heidegger Linz Austria

£1,400.00 £1,200.00

Vintage antique parlor guitar, handmade in Austria. The label inside says “Eduard Heidegger, Linz a.d.O. Landstr.”, no date. Supposed to be made around 1900 to 1920.
Heidegger was a specialist for guitars, lutes, mandolins, violins and cittern (label inside in german). This is a fine instrument in good condition, cleaned, immediately playable with wonderful sound, but needs some repairs. Beautiful selected wood, top finest solid spruce (wonderful aged), sides and back looks like maple, maybe solid.
The tuners (6 original bone knobs) work very well, unusual long but very nice head, rosewood fingerboard with 18 frets (good condition, show normal signs of use), 3 markers at the fretboard, beautiful original rosewood bridge and original bridge pins.
The neck is straight and good playable, the action at the 12th fret is 4 to 5mm. Older nylon strings (one is missing), strong but warm sound, a wonderful guitar for classical or romantic music. Maybe steel is an option, too. GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION – This parlor guitar was well played.
Damages: two hairline cracks at the top, small separations.
Dimensions and specifications: Total length 965mm, scale length 605mm, largest width of the body 285mm, sides from 73 to 83mm, nut 42mm, 12th fret 54mm.
All in all a very interesting and good quality instrument for the ambitious player or any collection.
Shipping and handling: It can be delivered anywhere or picked up.
